About

Hi, I'm Jason Jacobs and I am an artist and frontend web designer living in Boise, Idaho. I presently work for Thrive Web Designs as a Lead Frontend web designer.

I was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. Drawn to the arts since I was a child, I spent countless hours drawing, reading, and writing. With so much investment in these abilities it was only natural that as a younger person I thought I'd grow up one day and become an artist.

I went to school and pursued art. There came a point when I became disillusioned with what pursuing a life of art would mean for myself realized I didn't want to be on the cusp of homelessness for a lifetime. I tried my hand at other pursuits instead. I started a construction company with friends in central Illinois building houses (until the housing crash put an end to that). Later I became a commercial kitchen designer while living in Omaha, Nebraska, creating architectural blueprints for countless restaurants and commercial kitchens. While working as a commercial kitchen designer I went back to school and graduated with a degree in web design.

Eventually I ended up in Boise, Idaho. I’m married now and living a pretty good life. I still read a lot, and while I haven't had as much time for writing and art as I'd like, I'm trying to carve out a little more space for it these days. I hope my website serves as a vehicle for sharing some of that with you.
